If you're visiting this page, it's because we've come to meet you and introduce you to this new 100% Organic Hops product for horses!

Hops... what do you put in beer?

Absolutely!

Hops (Humulus Lupulus) are closely related to nettles. It is native to North America, Europe and Asia. Its female flowers, known as "strobiles", are now widely used in beer production, as they provide bitterness and aroma, while hops' natural antibacterial action promotes balanced yeast activity.

So why give my horses hops?

Because hops are first and foremost a recognized medicinal plant.

It has always been used to calm the nervous system. This traditional use is recognized by several health authorities, including the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the World Health Organization (WHO), Commission E of the German Ministry of Health and the European Scientific Coordination on Phytotherapy (ESCOP). In particular, there is evidence to support the efficacy of hops in treating nervousness, tension, stress, agitation and anxiety. It can therefore make a major contribution to calming sensitive or easily distracted horses, helping them to concentrate on training or acclimatize to a new environment more gently, for example.

In addition to its main use as a sedative (excellent in synergy with Valerian!), hops - rich in tannins with antiviral properties - are traditionally used in India and China to treat ailments such as headaches, indigestion and intestinal cramps. The Cherokee people also used it as an anti-rheumatic, analgesic and against inflammation of the kidneys and urinary tract. But hops are also rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin B6 and iron. These nutrients are essential for maintaining good health and play an important role in the body's normal functioning. Hops are therefore ideal for promoting general well-being.

Research by the University of Kentucky and the US Department of Agriculture* suggests that hops' antibacterial properties slow the growth of harmful bacteria and help maintain a proper intestinal pH. This makes hops a valuable aid in controlling microbiological problems and reducing the risk of laminitis.

In addition to its recognized anti-spasmodic action on intestinal and gastric problems, it is also used in cases of general debility, notably when the animal has lost its appetite and is emaciated. The bitter principle of hops helps to stimulate the digestive system and stimulate the appetite.

What do the regulations say?

If you consult the AFLD (Association Française de Lutte contre le Dopage) website and enter "HUMULUS LUPULUS" and "HOUBLON", you'll see that hops, whether fresh or dried, are not considered a doping agent:

"Status: Authorized // Authorization procedure: No particular procedure // Additional information Special specifications: None".

Here's some good news: your horses will certainly appreciate the anti-stress support of hops during various competitions, meetings, group outings, shows, exhibitions, etc.!

Us and our production

We're a family business based in southern Burgundy, specializing in hops. We make only organic hops.

Our activities include hop sourcing and pellet production (transformation of dried hop flowers into pellets). See photo above. We work with some forty varieties from over 10 countries. We've developed real expertise in this plant, which takes us out of the brewing world.

Our hops are free of toxic substances, packaged in a protective atmosphere and stored in the best possible conditions (in cold storage): everything is in place to preserve the medicinal properties of this exceptional plant!

We found that the hops currently available for horses didn't meet these quality requirements. And with good reason, to each his own 😉 So here we are, with a premium hop, at hand, ready to deliver all its power and benefits!

In short, you have in your hands an exceptional product for an exceptional animal - yours!

So in this bag I'll find the premium hops you're talking about?

Another win!

We'd like to offer you a free trial of this sample we've prepared for you. We've created a varietal mix that's sure to give your animal(s) the best possible help.

These granules should be mixed with the ration, if possible in two daily doses, for example :

  • Adult horse: 20gr/day for 3 weeks
  • Pony: 10gr/day for 3 weeks

To best preserve the properties of these hops, please reseal the bag carefully after opening, allowing a minimum of air and light to penetrate (this oxidizes/deteriorates the product). Ideally stored in a cool place.
