OUR COMMITMENTS

THE CHOICE OF CERTIFIED HOPS

Preserving the natural resources that allow us, humans (and plants and animals), to breathe, drink, and eat healthy food and nutrients must be a priority. Because we have no spare planet, because this is the only one that can provide us with what we absolutely need to live, we cannot compromise.

From this perspective, agriculture is a sector with a key role to play. Its relationship to the land is central. That’s why we’ve chosen to offer only hops that are certified organic and Demeter .

REUSE

There are many boxes available that have only been used once and meet the criteria required for shipping our products!

Admittedly, this requires us to find and collect them, but it helps limit waste production on the one hand (once-used cardboard boxes that end up in landfills) and reduces the need for virgin raw materials (used to manufacture new cardboard boxes) on the other. Whenever possible, we prioritize using recycled cardboard . The same goes for packing materials: we reuse as much as possible!

THE USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES

To store hops optimally and preserve all their aromas and characteristics, it is essential to keep them away from light and oxygen, at a temperature below 5°C. This requires energy to maintain the temperature. For this purpose, HOPSTORE uses only renewable energy on its premises. The same applies to the electricity that powers all our office equipment, lighting, heating, etc.

    RAW MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

We try as much as possible to choose responsible raw materials and limit their consumption:

    • Office paper made from 100% recycled, chlorine-free paper, and printing whenever possible in 2p/sheet or double-sided for all our internal documents
    • Packing material made from reused cardboard boxes we receive and from materials we collect from local businesses in Cluny. Yes indeed!
    • Protective film for shipping pallets made from 80% recycled plastic
    • Documentation pockets for your merchandise, 100% paper (plastic-free), therefore recyclable, and with solvent-free glue.
    • Adhesive OR “green” containing 30% less virgin raw material OR made of paper, vegetable-based ink and solvent-free glue

    VALUES AND ETHICS

One of our clients and partners – Lokki – has developed a charter, from which we reproduce an excerpt here because it perfectly summarizes what we are committed to:

    • Act with integrity and responsibility in the markets, fight against corruption and anti-competitive practices, and refuse to accept bribes.
    • Guaranteeing respect for confidentiality and intellectual property rights
    • To trade ethically, based on a win-win approach and with a focus on mutual respect.
    • Demonstrate professional honesty: rigor, clarity, transparency with stakeholders

    WASTE SORTING

The same applies to the waste we produce, where we try to do things properly:

    • Drop-off of hop bags at the waste disposal centre (unfortunately not recyclable with current knowledge and market conditions)
    • Returning printer toner cartridges to Brother for recycling
    • Maximize the reuse of cardboard boxes: use them directly for shipping your goods or as packing material.

You can also place your orders by phone or email.

And if you can't find the hops you want in the packaging you want: just ask us!

You can apply for a contract at any time:

Minimum 10kg/variety and 50kg/year per brewery.

Offer subject to price and stock availability at the time of request.

By buying organic hops you promote biodiversity* and

      limit global warming**

Hops are susceptible to the same diseases as grapevines. Therefore, non-organic cultivation can involve multiple treatments (including synthetic products) that harm biodiversity in the soil and around hop fields. Organic farming preserves soil life, insects, birds, and other biodiversity.

Organic hop cultivation prioritizes the use of compost and other natural fertilizers. This results in a high concentration of carbon in the soil. Less CO2 in the air means less global warming.
