Akoya is a classic Aromatic hop, the result of crossing the English variety Zenith with a male Hopsteiner line as part of the Hopsteiner breeding program.
The aroma of raw hops is herbaceous, lemony and theatrical, with slightly fruity and mentholated notes. It has good resistance to diseases such as mildew, powdery mildew, verticillium wilt and water stress.
