Description

Brewers Gold—or brewers’ gold, no less—is the parent of half a dozen other hops on the market, such as Galena, Nugget , and Centennial . It was developed in England and released in… 1919! The super alpha hops developed later have somewhat overshadowed it, but it remains a historic and fascinating hop, especially useful at the end of the boil.

It is also very interesting to grow because it is quite resistant to diseases and pests, and it’s a real plus in organic farming! Not to mention that it offers a beautiful range of flavors, not only bitter as mentioned, but also aromatic.

Finally, note that for a hop that’s quite “fruity,” it delivers a pronounced bitterness! Perfect for a single-hop Pale Ale, for example 😉
