Food, Organic

More Organic, less disease

I am reporting here word for word the article from the PickR blog that I found very well written and synthetic. The whole thing is from their pen, thanks to them for this synthesis 😉

Eating Organicand the reduction of cancer risk

The study was published in October 2018. Conducted by 4 institutions - INRA, INSERM, the University of Paris 13 and the Caisse Nationale d'Assurance Maladie - it shows a 25% reduction in the risk of cancer among regular consumers of organic food. Although no single study can establish the absolute truth on the subject, this study nevertheless represents a significant advance on the benefits of Organicand on the reduction of disease risk.

This research shows two ways in which eating Organicregularly may significantly reduce the risk of cancer:

  • Chemicals and pesticides are limited in food Organic. Indeed, eating Organicwould reduce exposure to pesticides by almost 80%. Strict regulations govern organic farming. The levels of chemicals allowed are strictly controlled to be compatible with the goal of better health for all.
  • Indeed, the percentages of antioxidants, omega-3 and vitamin C, among others, are higher in products Organic. For example, organically produced milk has 50% more omega-3 than conventional milk.

Eating Organicregularly would have a particularly protective impact against breast cancer. Also for postmenopausal women and against lymphoma. Despite this, the 25% reduction in risk concerns all types of cancer.

The Ligue contre le cancer supports these analyses by recommending to limit contact with pesticides and chemicals. Indeed, these products have proven to be dangerous to health. This shows the interest for consumers to turn to an organic food.

Eating Organicisbelieved to reduce the risk of cancer and is also a protective factor against certain chronic diseases.

Eating Organicand the reduced risk of chronic diseases

The boom in chronic diseases in recent decades has prompted specialists to examine the links between a healthy diet and the risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, allergies or cardiovascular disease.

Eating Organicreduces the risk of chronic diseases.

In addition to recommendations on eating enough fruit and vegetables, more and more studies are looking at the benefits of new, healthier eating habits, such as regular or even daily use of Organic. The BioNutrinet study evaluates the impact of an organic diet on chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The first results show that eating Organicreduces the risk of chronic diseases.

To reinforce this, a Dutch study on children's food consumption showed that a diet based on organically grown products substantially reduces the risk of allergies such as eczema. The nutrients found in dairy products Organicsuch as omega-3 and vitamins are thought to explain this result.

These studies prove the benefits of Organicin reducing the risk of cancer and certain chronic diseases. But what about the issue of excess weight?

Eating Organicand reducing the risk of overweight or obesity

Eating Organicwould have a positive impact on reducing the risk of being overweight or obese

The BioNutrinet study of 62,000 volunteers shows similar results after 3 years of follow-up, indicating a 30% reduction in the risk of becoming obese for regular consumers of organic products. To obtain these results, the researchers compared two similar cohorts. In other words, people with a balanced diet containing a lot of fruit and vegetables. The only difference was the production method: Organicor traditional. One of the hypotheses put forward is to consider the ingestion of pesticides as a risk factor for overweight or obesity. Indeed, pesticides facilitate the storage of fat in the body by playing the role of endocrine disruptor.

Eating Organichas been shown to have a positive impact on reducing the risk of becoming overweight or obese, so don't deprive yourself!

In order to limit exposure to pesticides, the HCS (Haut Conseil de la Santé) recommends the consumption of food Organicor food grown in the garden. In addition, organic food has been shown to contain fewer heavy metals than conventional products: one more reason to eat Organicto reduce the risk of disease!
