Description

Bred at Wye College , Challenger was introduced to the market in the early 1970s (1972). It is descended from Northern Brewer and is also related to Northdown and Target. This versatile variety is an excellent all-rounder with attractive aroma and alpha acid properties. Used as a primary hop, it contributes freshness and a rounded bitterness. Added to the final boil, it can impart a fruity character to the beer, which is often highly appreciated.
