POLARIS - BIO

Description

POLARIS was developed by the Hop Research Institute in Hüll and has been grown in Germany since 2011-2012. Developed as a Bittering to offer high alpha levels, it nonetheless offers interesting aromas and flavors. We're happy to classify it as a DUAL.

Please note: with its very high oil content, it could wipe out any other hops you might be interested in pairing it with if used in "normal" doses. From this point of view and on the palate more than on the nose, it could turn any beer into a solid IPA!

Its fruity side seems to stand out less if it's only used in dry hop. Brewers recognize its punchiness, which is great for Barley Wine. It also works well in browns.

Aromas: Fruits, Citrus, Pine, Mint (more on the nose than on the palate)

Usage: IPA, Pale Ale, Imperial Lager, Barley Wine, Brune

Acids:

  • Alpha: 19 - 23
  • Beta: 5 - 6.5%.
  • Cohumulone: 22 - 28%.

Cumulative oils: 4 - 5ml/100g

Possible substitutes: Not easy... Australian Topaz, which is not available organically. Hm.
