Almost half of the Tradition blend comes from Hallertau Mittlefruh. It also comes from Hallertau Gold and Saaz; it is sometimes called Hallertau Tradition. Launched in the early 1990s, its success is partly due to its higher alpha acid content, lower cohumulone levels, and higher myrcene oil content compared to its parent varieties.
