In March, we donate to Plantons pour l’Avenir
As you now know, we have decided to donate 1% of our monthly revenue to a different charity/cause every month.
In turn, members of the HOPSTORE ecosystem (employees and partners) choose who to give to.
Buying from HOPSTORE means buying certified organic products, but not only that !
This month we have decided to support the preservation of our French forest.
Why is this initiative important?
The renewal of French forests is in danger!
Although the area of French forest increased during the second half of the 20th century, thanks in particular to natural growth on abandoned agricultural land, its area has stabilized at around 16 million hectares since the beginning of the century, and its sustainability is no longer assured.
Without planting, French forests will no longer be able to meet the growing demand for wood, participate in the energy transition (eco-construction, renewable energy, green chemistry, etc.), or fully fulfill their role as a key player in the sustainable development of territories: protecting water and soil, maintaining biodiversity, combating climate change, maintaining and creating jobs that cannot be outsourced…
Natural forest regeneration alone is no longer sufficient to meet the increasing demand for wood and the development of a bio-based economy.
75% of French forests are privately owned by over 3 million landowners, most of whom possess only a few hectares and whose resources are insufficient to ensure reforestation. With the reduction of state and local government subsidies, forest plantings have fallen by more than 50% in France, and without reforestation support, many forest owners are unable to ensure the renewal of stands that are often dying, victims of severe weather, or ill-suited to climate change.

The benefits of planting
“Planting allows the introduction of species adapted to climate change and future economic needs, through improved forest varieties that have a broader genetic base than those of natural stands, giving them greater adaptability and resulting in more resilient stands.”

How does Plantons pour l’Avenir operate on the ground?
Plantons pour l’avenir is a private, apolitical and independent endowment fund working around the themes of “Planting”, “Raising Awareness” and “Innovating”.
Created in September 2014, its purpose, within the framework of its mission of general interest contributing to the defense of the natural environment, is to revive reforestation in France within the framework of sustainable management.
352 projects were supported throughout France, representing 2,300,000 trees on 2,100 hectares reforested.
